Betting Turnover

Chinese synonyms:打水、下注、投注、打码、洗码、打流水

What does "Betting Turnover" mean?

In gambling terminology, the act of placing bets by players can be referred to as "打水" (dǎ shuǐ), "流水" (liú shuǐ), "投注" (tóu zhù), "打码" (dǎ mǎ), or "洗码" (xǐ mǎ). The measurement for calculating the total amount of bets placed by players is called "下注量" (xià zhù liàng), "打水量" (dǎ shuǐ liàng), "流水量" (liú shuǐ liàng), "投注量" (tóu zhù liàng), "打码量" (dǎ mǎ liàng), or "洗码量" (xǐ mǎ liàng).

For example, common phrases among gamblers include:

What is your daily betting turnover on this table?
Is the required effective turnover for withdrawals high on this iGaming platform?
Are there any requirements for the turnover of this promotion?

Effective Betting Turnover

But what does "effective" mean? The term "effective turnover" is often used as a withdrawal threshold condition in online gambling platforms, based on criteria such as effective bets, effective wagers, effective betting turnover, effective turnover, effective chip cleaning, and effective coding. Regardless of whether you win or lose in your bets, it is counted as part of the effective betting turnover. This concept is often seen in withdrawal restrictions.
▲ Calculation Formula: (Amount × Turnover Ratio = Effective Wagering)

Now, I will illustrate this with an actual example for better clarity. Let's assume we are playing baccarat on a certain online casino platform, and we bet "500 USD" on the "Banker." If there is a clear winner in this round, either the Banker or the Player, our effective wagering amount is 500 USD. However, it's important to note that if this round results in a "tie," the bet amount will be fully refunded, and this 500 USD will "not" be included in the effective betting turnover.

Furthermore, if a bet is considered a "risk-free bet" by the system, that portion of the bet amount will not be counted towards the effective betting turnover. A risk-free bet refers to placing simultaneous bets on both the Banker and the Player so that, regardless of the outcome, you incur no losses or gains. This behavior is commonly referred to as "brushing" or "advantage play," and thus, the effective betting turnover will not accumulate.

Here are some examples:
Example 1: Let's say the promotion terms are - First deposit 1000 USD, effective turnover 0.8 times.
If a player deposits 1000 USD, the effective turnover requirement is 0.8 times, meaning the effective betting turnover must reach 800 USD before a withdrawal can be made.

Example 2: Let's say the promotion terms are - First deposit 3000 USD with a 50% bonus, turnover 15 times (deposit + bonus).

If a player deposits 3000 USD, the turnover requirement of 15 times is calculated based on (deposit + bonus) x multiplier. In this example, it would be (3000 + 1500) x 15 = 4500 x 15 = 67500. So, a total of 67500 + 3000 (original deposit with 1x turnover) = 70500 must be achieved to meet the withdrawal threshold on the gambling platform.
